Upperparts vary from gray-brown to orange; one of four short-tailed fruit bats in Costa Rica; four
species distinguished from one another only by subtle differences in size and in banding pattern of
fur; as a group, distinguished from nectar feeding bats by shorter snout and lack of groove in lower
lip; from tailless fruit bats by presence of short tail; all short-tailed fruit bats have U-shaped row of warts around larger central wart on chin; 6 cm (21/2 in).

I fell over joyed to have in my place very special visitors, a colony of eight fruits eating bats come each night to feast on the bananas and nectar. It is incrediable to view this feeding.   Frenzy at 6:30 every evenning so close to the center of the city. I would like to show you some pictures my guests sent me to share with you. They are amazing!
Thank you very much to: Shawna Miller, Phobe Lehmann and Peter Haines.
